Marrakech

Marrakech

Marrakech (also spelled Marrakesh) is one of Morocco’s most famous and vibrant cities. It sits at the foot of the Atlas Mountains and is often called the “Red City” because of its reddish-pink walls and buildings made from local clay.

It’s known for:

  • The Medina (old walled city), a UNESCO World Heritage site full of narrow alleys, souks (markets), and historic architecture.

  • Jemaa el-Fna Square, the lively main square with food stalls, performers, and storytellers.

  • Palaces and gardens, like the Bahia Palace, El Badi Palace, and Majorelle Garden.

  • Its mix of Berber, Arab, and Andalusian influences in culture, cuisine, and art.

It’s also a major hub for flights, tours, and excursions to the desert, the Atlas Mountains, and the Atlantic coast.
