4 Days Marrakech to Chegaga Desert itinerary :
Day 1: Marrakech → Zagora via Atlas Mountains & Draa Valley
Departure in the morning from Marrakech, crossing the spectacular High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m), with panoramic viewpoints and photo stops along the way. Continue toward Agdz and the lush Draa Valley, famous for its palm groves, kasbahs, and traditional Berber villages. Arrival in Zagora in the late afternoon, where you can relax at your hotel, enjoy a sunset walk among the palms, and have dinner.
Day 2: Zagora → Mhamid → Erg Chegaga (Camel Ride & Desert Camp)
After breakfast, drive south toward M’hamid El Ghizlane, the last village before the vast Sahara. From here, switch to a 4×4 vehicle to reach the majestic dunes of Erg Chegaga. Enjoy a camel ride across the golden dunes at sunset, followed by tea at the camp. Dinner is served under the stars with traditional music around the fire, and overnight in a comfortable desert tent.
Day 3: Chegaga → Foum Zguid → Ouarzazate
Wake early to watch the sunrise over the dunes before breakfast. Depart by 4×4 across varied desert landscapes—dry lake beds, fossil plains, and rocky hamada—toward Foum Zguid. After lunch, continue the journey to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you can relax at your hotel or explore the town.
Day 4: Ouarzazate → Ait Benhaddou → Marrakech
Visit the famous UNESCO World Heritage site Ait Benhaddou, a historic fortified village used as a filming location for many movies and series. After exploring the kasbah and enjoying lunch nearby, return to Marrakech via the Atlas Mountains, arriving in the late afternoon.
