Tangier to Marrakech trip itinerary
Day 1
Tangier – Chefchaouen
You will meet your driver/guide waiting for you in the Port/Airport with a paper with your name on it, then you will start your Tangier to Marrakech trip toward Chefchaouen wich is a Morocco popular tourist attraction and welcoming town nestled in the Rif Mountains just south of the Mediterranean coastline in northwest Morocco.
Chefchaouen is known as “blue city” for its traditional buildings. Enjoy a walk to explore the white and blue washed walls of the medina and the markets that offer some unique native handicrafts. Chefchaouen is a fantastic destination for photography with its wonderful views of the Rif Mountains. Overnight in a Riad in the heart of the small Medina.(B.B)
Day 2
Chefchouen – Fes Guided Tour.
You will get your breakfast before starting your day trip toward Fez. Here, you will start exploring the oldest city in Morocco, walking in its alleys and small streets. Our visit starts by visiting the Royal Palace gate, the Jewish headquarter, the first Mellah ever built in Morocco, built during the 16th century.
We will ensure that you visit all sites with cultural and historical interest including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in the region, the Tanneries, the Attarine museum and Mulay Idriss Mausoleum. Night in a riad with bed and breakfast.
Day 3
Fes – Ifrane – Cedar woods – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast in your riad, you will leave Fes travelling towards Ifran, a beautiful mountains village, referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco” and then on to Midelt. During this journey you’ll experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Stopping at the famous cedar forest – the largest in Morocco – where you may well sight Barbary apes.
After sometime within the forest, your journey continues to Midelt along the magnificent hills and mountains of the Atlas, after Midelt town you will be travelling through the fascinating Tizi Ntalghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, taking in views of the High Atlas plateau, you’ll notice how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city of Errachidia where you may have your lunch.
Afterwards, you will travel along the luxuriant Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way to Erfoud. Arrive at Merzouga on the afternoon. Night accommodations will be in a hotel with dinner bed and brakfast.
Day 4
Tour of the dunes and exploring Merzouga aerea:
After your breakfast in the Hotel you will start exploring Merzouga aerea visiting the village of (Khamlia) then to Mifis mines and visiting the nomad families living betwen the dunes and the Algerian border befor going back to the hotel where you will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before you camel ride, guided by an experienced camel man to explore within the golden sand sea of Merzouga. Dinner in front of the tent where you will spend the night. Dinner bed and breakfast.
Day 5
Merzouga – Todra gorges – Dades valley
You will wake you up early in the morning to watch what well may be the best sunrise of your life. You’ll peacefully camel-trek back to the village of Merzouga. Enroute you couldn’t fail to appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes – changing with the light as the day progresses. After breakfast in the riad, you’ll leave for Rissani, Tinghir, and Todra gorges – the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco.
After lunch around the gorge we’ll drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes”. Night in a hotel with dinner bed and breakfast.
Day 6
Dades Gorge – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech.
After your breakfast at the hotel. You will start your day driving via the thousand kasbah route, the rose valley, a visit to Skoura oisis with it’s authentic 17 century kasbah, a visit to Taourirt kasbah (the former residence of the Glaoui), lunch in Ourzazate (optional). Then you will continue toward Ait Benhaddou, the oldest Kasbah in south Morocoo befor heading to Marrakech, 4 hours drive via the tizi ntichka pass with stops along, get to Marrakech late afternoon. Night in a Riad with bed and breakfast.
Day 7
Explore Marrakech – Airport transfert
Breakfast at the Riad, then you will start exploring Marrakech ” the red city of Morocco”. Your guide will ensure that you see the most important places of historical and cultural interest, including the Saadian tombs; the Palace of El Bahia and the Ben Youssef Coranic School, Your visit will last as much as the time allows you, then the transfert to Marrakech airport where the Tangier to Marrakech trip end.
